Gasoline Price to Rise by 10% Next Year
Member of the Majlis Energy Commission Ramezan Vahidi told IRNA that the price hike would be in line with the Iranian government's policy to remove gasoline subsidy.
Vahidi said citizens would have to pay Rls.550 for one liter of gasoline as of next year.
"If the government is to remove subsidies on gasoline, it should do the same with all other subsidized goods per a Majlis approval," Vahidi said.
He said the Majlis has proposed the government to remove subsidies and distribute it fairly among all people. He criticized the government for its inaction toward this proposal.
"If subsidies are removed and prices become real, the government will be able to pay subsidies to people directly; this will be a step closer to social justice since it will benefit the oppressed and those, who are not in a good financial status," said the MP.
He said perhaps the government has refused to follow the Majlis approval for good reasons.
